Gruis

Gruis focuses on finding new destinations for waste flows. This season we are taking up the challenge by setting up a cultivation installation in a hotbed, where we will grow mushrooms on site on coffee grounds from the surrounding catering industry.

Every month we organize workshops in which we show step by step how growing mushrooms works using this installation. When the mushrooms are ready to be harvested, we celebrate with a harvest festival where everyone is welcome to taste.

We are also expanding our activities with the biopress – a design by Precious Plastics. This machine offers the possibility to press biological materials into a specific shape. This allows us to make edible objects such as plates from old bread, but also decorative elements such as lampshades made from eggshells or orange peels.

This project was created through a collaboration with Let's Save Food, which will regularly provide us with waste streams.
