How can we rediscover the child within ourselves? Embracing our bodies without shame? How can we create a sense of group and connection without words? Moving from imagination? Finding peace within ourselves and with each other? Going crazy, being silly! Through various improvisation exercises and games, we'll create an open atmosphere where we use our bodies to explore these questions through play, play, play.
Suitable for people with and without experience in movement! A playful workshop hosted by Amber Bosteels.
Who?
Amber Bosteels (°2000, she/her, Ghent) is a 23-year-old dance artist born in Belgium. She developed her love for movement at the age of 8 during Indian dance classes. At 12, she chose to pursue a degree in performing arts, where she discovered contemporary dance. Six years later, she graduated and moved to Leeds where she studied at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Currently, she works as a freelance dancer, teaches dance improvisation classes for children and adults, and is involved in her own collectives zebrastrips & roesoesoe.
Additionally, she performs with various companies, including Instant Dissidence and The Maya Sapera Dance Company. Her focus is mainly on contemporary dance, Kathak, and improvisation techniques. Outside of the hours she dedicates to movement, she enjoys experimenting with other art forms such as photography and theater. In addition to her freelance projects, she is committed to homelessness outreach in Ghent. Her interest lies in making performing arts accessible to everyone beyond traditional theaters by combining amateurs and professionals and engaging diverse audiences. She is passionate about participating in socially engaged art projects, creating performances, and transformative projects that arise from the core of community organizations and their needs.
